Get Involved
There are many ways you can get involved in the Keys to Frederick Project.
- See Them: Take one of the maps and take a tour and visit all thirty keys. You can also involve others in the tour by creating fun games and educational activities. Staff members at The Gazette recently held a teambuilding exercise that included a trivia contest about some of the keys.
- Support the Keys Project: Donations are being accepted to cover the costs associated with the Keys to Frederick project. In addition to all the upfront costs that were incurred before the keys hit the streets, there are costs associated with maintenance and repair of the keys while they are on public display as well as safety and security of the keys. Other costs involved with the project include the array of public events provided at no charge. You can also patronize the participating artists as well of the sponsors that has ensured the tremendous success of this project. Checks can be made payable to the Frederick Arts Council with "Keys to Frederick" in the memo line.
- Participate in the Events: Visit the calendar of events page and participate in one of the events that is being specially planned for the Keys to Frederick project. Better yet, volunteer to assist with one.
- Buy Keys to Frederick Merchandise: You can buy one of the limited Keys to Frederick t-shirts to wear, showing your support and pride in the project. The t-shirt will also serve as a commemorative momento for years to come. Other merchandise will soon be made available, including a poster and keepsake book.
- Buy a Key!: On Thursday, November 1st, all the keys will be auctioned off at the Key Event Auction and Gala which will be held at the Weinberg Center for the Arts. You can become a proud owner of one of the keys and display it in your home, yard, garden, office, lobby, or school. Or you can donate it back to the Frederick Arts Council which will help find a permanent public location for the key including arts facilities, public parks, and other spaces.
Photography Competition
The Frederick Arts Council is hosting a photography competition and exhibition. All shutterbugs get out there and take pictures of the keys and submit them for the competition and exhibit. The deadline for submission is October 26th. The exhibit will be held at the Cultural Arts Center of Frederick County throughout the month of November.
