Ronald Layman — The Friendship Key
The Friendship KeyRonald Layman's key is finished to look like a large piece of Arabescato marble - the marble used on the "Temple of Friendship" in Potsdam, Germany - the Irish green marble represents the Irish heritage as much as the German Heritage. It is entitled "The Friendship Key," symbolizing all good friendships are a pillar of strength in good and bad times. This Arabescato marble is a soft gray and white marble with large drifts of soft gray and medium to dark gray veins. This is an Italian marble with gray and black markings. The base and two rings at the top of the key are decorated with Irish green marble. The marble symbolizes a strong solid building material that has been used throughout the ages, yet a beautiful material. The beauty of the marble is that no two pieces are ever the same. Just like people, buildings, cities, or countries, they may share a name, they may have similar buildings, they may be identical twins, yet there will never be exactly the same ? that one thing that makes everyone unique.
