Key to the Garden

When Vince Coates paints and sculpts, he focuses on process. He is impulsive and reactive when applying paint and adding images. Play and having fun are important elements that he brings to his art. He likes to use bold and vibrant colors and is a big believer in doing the art first and then thinking about what he created afterward. Watercolor and acrylics are his favorite medium and he also enjoys creating sculpture, ceramics and collage. Vince has taken classes at the Delaplaine Visual Arts and Education Center, and studied under abstract painter Ed Ramsburg, who has inspired and influenced his journey as an artist. He holds an A. A. Degree in Art from FCC and is working toward a B. A. Degree in Art. He led a team from the Scott Key Center to complete this fiberglass key.
